Welcome to the Qualified Order Center

Separation, divorce, and child support arrangements are important matters that can affect retirement benefits and children's health care coverage.

The Qualified Order Center can help you understand and complete the process for a:

  • Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO)--A QDRO instructs the plan administrator that a portion of an employee's retirement benefit will be distributed to another individual due to a divorce, separation, or another domestic relations proceeding.
  • Qualified Medical Child Support Order (QMCSO)--A QMCSO provides health coverage to children of an employee who is divorced, separated, or never married. Coverage is provided through the employer's group health plan. The QMCSO process occurs through the court system.
  • National Medical Support Notice (NMSN)--A NMSN is a type of QMCSO designed to provide health coverage to eligible children of an employee who is divorced, separated, or never married. Coverage is provided through the employer's group health plan. A state child support enforcement agency is always involved in the case.
